Baku: Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has emphasized that the false image of power and dominance held by the United States has collapsed in the recent war, urging countries in West Asia and the Islamic world to create a new order grounded in their own capabilities, resources, and people. Ghalibaf met with Numan Kurtulmus, the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkiye, on the sidelines of the 20th Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (PUIC) in Baku, Azerbaijan.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, during the meeting, Ghalibaf expressed appreciation for Turkiye's stance in condemning the aggression from the United States and the Zionist regime, as well as its support for the Islamic Republic of Iran. He noted that the scale of bombing during the war was significant, surpassing even some of the major wars of contemporary history. Ghalibaf stated that the Iranian people responded intensely and precisely to the aggression, enduring hardships with resilience and remaining present in the public spaces of cities and villages for over 110 days.
Referring to the outcomes of the 12-day war and the Ramadan War for all regional and Islamic countries, Ghalibaf pointed out that it has become clear that the root of misfortunes is the Zionist regime, and the perceived power of the Americans collapsed during this war. He urged countries in West Asia and the Islamic world to work together to build a new order based on their own capabilities, resources, and people.
Ghalibaf also thanked Turkiye for its cooperation in countering the actions of armed groups supported by the Zionist regime and the US, calling for the development of parliamentary and economic relations, as well as security cooperation.
Numan Kurtulmus, for his part, highlighted Turkiye's efforts to cooperate with other mediators toward reaching a conclusion in negotiations. He stated that the war against the Islamic Republic of Iran lacked legitimacy under international law. Kurtulmus emphasized that the issues of Gaza and the occupation of Lebanon by the Zionist regime must not be forgotten, adding that addressing these key issues is essential for establishing peace in the Middle East, with Iran and Turkiye sharing common views in this regard.
