Iran and Pakistan Agree to Enhance Cross-Border Trade

Tehran: Iran's Interior Minister, Eskandar Momeni, and his visiting Pakistani counterpart, Syed Mohsin Naqvi, have engaged in discussions focused on facilitating cross-border trade and cooperation between the two neighboring countries.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Momeni and Naqvi explored a range of issues centered on border trade and strategies to enhance it during Naqvi's unannounced visit to Tehran. This visit marked his second trip to Iran in just over a month, where he met with senior Iranian officials.

Momeni expressed appreciation for Naqvi's visit, emphasizing the historical ties and strong relations between Iran and Pakistan. He conveyed gratitude towards the Pakistani government and people for their supportive stance towards Iran. Momeni highlighted that the discussions primarily revolved around trade, with a focus on making the long-shared borders more secure and beneficial through mutual efforts.

Both governments view each other positively, a sentiment reflected in the message from Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei, which emphasized the importance of Iran-Pakistan relations. Momeni stressed that both countries are determined to expand economic and trade relations and that necessary facilities should be established on both sides of the border to strengthen unity, solidarity, and brotherhood.

Naqvi, in his response, expressed gratitude to Momeni for the hospitality and affirmed that the two nations would work towards tangible solutions concerning Iran-Pakistan relations, including border security and trade. He also showed readiness to address these issues with more seriousness in upcoming meetings with other Iranian officials.
