Iran: Iran has condemned an airstrike on a primary school in the southern city of Minab during the recent US-Israeli war of aggression against the country, describing the attack as a heinous crime and calling for justice and full accountability for those responsible.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Iran's Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Amir Saeid Iravani, described the strike on the Minab school as 'one of the gravest war crimes committed against Iranian children by the United States and the Israeli regime.' He made the remarks during the UN Security Council's open debate on 'Children and Armed Conflict.'
In his statement, Iravani emphasized the International Day of Women in Diplomacy and thanked Colombia for convening the open debate. He highlighted the shortcomings of the Secretary-General's latest report, noting its failure to reflect the humanitarian consequences of the Israeli regime's 12-day war of aggression against children in Iran in June 2025, which resulted in the martyrdom of 47 Iranian children.
Iravani detailed the deliberate targeting of civilians and infrastructure by the United States and the Israeli regime, which led to the destruction and severe damage of numerous schools and civilian objects. The aggression resulted in the martyrdom of 220 children, including 17 under the age of five.
The ambassador recounted the horrific attack on the Primary School in Minab, where United States missiles struck twice during school hours, killing 168 students aged 7 to 12, along with teachers and parents, and injuring more than 96 others. Many victims were trapped under rubble, with some bodies so severely injured they could not be identified.
Iravani emphasized that the attack on Minab constitutes grave violations against children as per the Security Council's definitions, specifically the killing and maiming of children and attacks on schools. He declared the US's actions a war crime, challenging the credibility of the international legal order established by the UN.
Iran calls for full accountability for all perpetrators, planners, and commanders involved in the attacks. The memory of the children of Minab demands justice and action, and Iran insists that international law must apply equally to all, without selectivity.
