Vienna: Iran's Embassy in Vienna has expressed regret over Austria's hasty stance regarding allegations that the Islamic Republic launched missile and drone attacks against the United Arab Emirates, calling the position based on propaganda and false information and urging it to be corrected.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, in a statement provided on Wednesday, the embassy said it was unfortunate that certain European countries react prematurely without verifying reports and under the influence of misleading narratives. It added that in recent days, while illegal and provocative actions by US forces in the region have intensified under a deceptive humanitarian pretext, Emirati authorities have cooperated with the aggressor. Such an approach, the statement said, contradicts the principle of good neighborliness and the UN Charter, and poses a threat to Iran's national security.
The embassy firmly rejected Abu Dhabi's claim that Iran had fired missiles and drones at the UAE, stating that Iranian Armed Forces have conducted no such operations in recent days. Any defensive measures taken, it elaborated, were solely aimed at repelling US actions.
Austria's Foreign Ministry on Wednesday reposted unverified allegations on X, calling for the attacks to end and urging de-escalation and a diplomatic solution. Iran's Foreign Ministry also denied the accusations, warning of the consequences of continued cooperation with hostile parties and reaffirming Tehran's right to take necessary measures to safeguard its national interests.
