Iran Urges Global Rebuke of U.S. President’s Threats

Moscow: Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Majid Takht-e-Ravanchi has urged international organizations, including the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), to denounce the U.S. president's recent threats against Iran.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Takht-e-Ravanchi criticized the U.S. president's statement threatening to use force against Iran, labeling it as reckless and in violation of international law and the United Nations Charter. He emphasized that such remarks threaten the territorial integrity and political independence of nations, which are protected by international legal frameworks.

He mentioned Iran's appeal to the U.N. Security Council to denounce these statements and called upon the SCO to take a similar stance. Takht-e-Ravanchi stressed the importance of international bodies in preserving global peace and security by condemning any form of aggression.

During a meeting of deputy foreign ministers from SCO member states in Moscow, Takht-e-Ravanchi highlighted the need for the organization to actively contribute to the formation of a new international order based on multilateralism, cooperation, and mutual respect. He underscored the SCO's potential to influence global politics, given its significant geopolitical and economic clout.

Furthermore, Takht-e-Ravanchi called for the SCO to focus on rejecting unilateral coercive measures, such as sanctions, that undermine international law and disproportionately affect vulnerable populations. He reiterated Iran's commitment to enhancing cooperation with SCO states, particularly in combating terrorism and organized crime, in line with the organization's objectives.

Takht-e-Ravanchi concluded by urging the SCO to vocalize its shared positions in international forums, particularly the U.N., and to work towards implementing decisions related to countering sanctions, preventing organized crime, and promoting regional stability.
