Iran’s Ice Climbers Secure Silver at UIAA World Cup

Edmonton: Iranian ice climbers Mohsen Beheshti-Rad and Mohammad-Reza Safdarian have clinched silver medals at the International Climbing and Mountaineering Federation (UIAA) Ice Climbing World Cup, held in Edmonton, Canada, from February 27 to March 1.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Beheshti-Rad secured second place after defeating his Mongolian rival. Meanwhile, Safdarian, with 255 points, also ranked second in the competition. The Mongolian athlete, however, claimed first place with 260 points.

Safdarian's participation was notably impacted as he was unable to compete in the fourth ranking competition in Colorado due to his failure to obtain a US visa. This absence allowed the Mongolian athlete to win the championship title.
