Tehran: Iran's Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref has proposed the formation of a union of Persian-speaking countries and regions, citing the extensive cultural, civilizational, and linguistic commonalities between Iran and Tajikistan. He suggested that this initiative be actively pursued during meetings and visits between officials from the two nations.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Aref made this proposal during a meeting with Daler Juma, the Minister of Energy and Water Resources of Tajikistan. Aref emphasized the importance of bolstering the favorable political relations between Tehran and Dushanbe by expanding cooperation in various sectors, including economic, trade, scientific, energy, tourism, and cultural domains.
In his remarks, Aref congratulated Tajikistan on its independence anniversary and expressed appreciation for the country's supportive stance towards Iran, particularly during recent conflicts and within regional and international bodies. He acknowledged Tajikistan's valuable support during these challenging periods.
Aref further noted that both nations share a strategy to expand relations at all levels. He identified bureaucracy as the primary challenge to deepening cooperation, which he believes can be overcome through increased bilateral interactions.
The meeting also highlighted the convening of the joint commission, demonstrating the determination of both countries to develop ties across political, economic, trade, scientific, technical, energy, and cultural spheres.
