Paris: Tens of thousands of people rallied in Paris and thousands more marched in Geneva in major pro-Palestine demonstrations over the weekend, with protesters in both cities calling for an end to the war and showing solidarity with Palestinians.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, in Paris, demonstrators filled the streets between Place de la R©publique and Place de la Nation on Saturday, chanting slogans such as ‘From Paris to Palestine; resistance,’ ‘From Paris to Gaza, resistance!’ and ‘Gaza, Gaza, Paris is with you!’ Organizers reported that tens of thousands participated, waving Palestinian flags and carrying placards reading ‘Palestine, we will not be silent’ and ‘Stop the genocide.’ Several left-wing political figures, including Jean-Luc M©lenchon, leader of the La France Insoumise, were present at the march.
In Geneva, thousands rallied peacefully on Saturday, which was marked as the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People. The demonstration, known as the ‘Geneva Big Protest,’ was organized by the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement and commenced at the English Garden near Lake Geneva. Protesters marched to the UN Office in Geneva while chanting ‘Free Palestine,’ ‘Palestine will be free from the river to the sea,’ ‘Israel in court,’ and ‘Stop war crimes,’ while holding Palestinian flags and banners critical of Israel.
