Tehran: Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf has emphasized the importance of safeguarding the unity that has emerged in Iran following the Israeli regime’s conflict in June. He warned against actions or words that may damage this unity, which he described as a divine trust.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Qalibaf made these remarks on Saturday evening during a ceremony in Parliament marking National Journalists’ Day. The event was attended by parliamentary reporters, photographers, cameramen, and correspondents. Qalibaf stressed that both individuals with their words and officials with their actions must not harm this unity.
He referred to the recent 12-day Israeli war, contrasting it with the eight-year Iran-Iraq war of the 1980s. During his recent trip to Geneva for the World Conference of Speakers of Parliament, he noted that his counterparts acknowledged the severity of cognitive warfare, which they described as more intense than conventional wars. He urged journalists to play their part in revealing the realities of this battle.
Qalibaf highlighted the cohesion and solidarity that emerged among the people during the conflict, describing it as a great divine gift that exceeded expectations. He attributed this unity to Iran’s rich culture and civilization, where citizens are willing to make sacrifices in the face of adversaries.
He also mentioned that even hostile intelligence agencies, including Israel’s Mossad, were surprised by the popular mobilization. Qalibaf characterized this mobilization as a testament to the nation’s resilience against aggression.
National Journalists’ Day commemorates the martyrdom anniversary of IRNA correspondent Mahmoud Saremi, who was killed on August 8, 1998, along with eight members of the Iranian Consulate General in Afghanistan.
