Araghchi Criticizes France Over Human Rights and International Law Stance

Tehran: Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has urged countries such as France to stop lecturing the world about human rights and international law, describing such behavior as 'embarrassing hypocrisy.'

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Araghchi expressed his criticism in a post on his X account early on Thursday. He wrote, "Countries like France should stop lecturing the world about 'human rights' and international law. The hypocrisy is blatant and embarrassing."

Araghchi further accused France of supporting Israel's actions in Gaza and aggression against Iran, which he claims undermines any moral authority they may have perceived. "Your backing of Israel's genocide in Gaza-and aggression against Iran-has destroyed whatever moral high ground you imagined you had," he added.

Araghchi's remarks came in response to a statement from the French Foreign Ministry. This statement, signed by France, 25 other countries, and EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas, criticized Iran's execution of individuals involved in deadly riots across Iran earlier this year.
