Beijing: Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, in a telephone conversation with his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araghchi, has expressed Beijing's full support for the Pakistan-mediated memorandum of understanding between Tehran and Washington on ending the war. In the phone call with Araghchi, Wang praised the diplomatic approach of the Islamic Republic in resolving issues and advancing talks.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the top Iranian diplomat briefed his Chinese counterpart about the details of the interim deal with the US, expressing hope that Tehran and Beijing would be able to benefit from the opportunities of the MoU to boost their relations, especially in the fields of energy and economy. Araghchi underscored the high level of mutual trust between Iran and China and the strategic importance of the relations between the two countries, expressing gratitude for Beijing's support during the negotiations.
Araghchi pointed to past experiences that caused Iran's deep distrust of the United States, adding that the responsibility for the full and proper implementation of the provisions of the MoU, especially ending the war on all fronts, lies with Washington.
