New delhi: Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and his Indian counterpart Subrahmanyam Jaishankar have engaged in discussions focusing on enhancing bilateral relations, regional developments, and multilateral cooperation. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the BRICS Foreign Ministers' Meeting in New Delhi.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Araghchi expressed gratitude to India for its hosting of the BRICS meeting, noting the productive dialogues and interactions that occurred during the event. He voiced optimism that India's leadership of BRICS would lead to improved coordination and achievements among member states.
Araghchi also updated Jaishankar on recent developments following the 40-day conflict, including the status of the current ceasefire and ongoing negotiations aimed at conflict resolution. The discussions extended to the situation in the Strait of Hormuz, maritime security, and regional stability.
Jaishankar reiterated the longstanding friendly relations between Iran and India, affirming India's commitment to diplomatic solutions in international disputes.
