Tehran: Iran and Tajikistan have underscored the urgency of expediting their collaborative efforts in the transport sector, focusing on rail, road, air, port, and logistics. Minister of Roads and Urban Development Farzaneh Sadegh recently met with Tajik Minister of Energy and Water Resources Daler Juma and Transport Minister Azim Ibrohim to discuss these priorities.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the meeting highlighted a planned increase in international rail freight between Iran and Tajikistan by 2025. This anticipated growth is seen as a testament to the strong bilateral relationship and the Iranian administration's focus on transport diplomacy. Sadegh announced that the Chabahar-Zahedan railway is set to become operational within three months, with track-laying already completed.
Sadegh emphasized that the Chabahar port could serve as a strategic logistics hub for Tajikistan, providing access to international waters. She also expressed openness to Tajik investments in Chabahar Port and Tehran's Aprin dry port, extending an invitation for Tajik officials to visit these facilities.
