Iran Dismisses Allegations on Nuclear and Missile Programs as ‘Big Lies’

Tehran: Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei has dismissed claims about the Islamic Republic's nuclear program, intercontinental ballistic missiles, and the number of people killed during recent unrest as 'big lies,' saying fabricated narratives are being used to advance a hostile propaganda campaign against the nation.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Baqaei stated in a post on his X account that the repeated allegations made by US officials and the Israeli regime rely on the deliberate creation of a false reality. He commented on the proficiency of "professional liars" in crafting the "illusion of truth," referencing a propaganda law attributed to Nazi Joseph Goebbels: "Repeat a lie often enough and it becomes the truth."

Baqaei criticized the U.S. administration and its allies, particularly singling out the Israeli regime, for using these tactics as part of their disinformation and misinformation campaigns against Iran. He emphasized that allegations concerning Iran's nuclear program, ballistic missile capabilities, and casualty figures during January's unrest are mere repetitions of falsehoods and urged the public not to be deceived by these fabrications.

His remarks came in response to US President Donald Trump's speech to Congress, where Trump asserted that Iran was developing ballistic missiles capable of reaching U.S. territory and posed a threat to Europe and American bases abroad. Trump also claimed that Washington had cautioned Tehran against reestablishing a weapons program, particularly nuclear arms, suggesting that Iran's nuclear program had been dismantled and was being revived.

Iran has consistently refuted such accusations, maintaining that its nuclear endeavors are peaceful and conducted in compliance with international standards.
