Tehran: Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has expressed Iran's readiness to facilitate peace talks between Afghanistan and Pakistan. In a post on his X account on Friday, Araghchi urged Afghanistan and Pakistan to resolve their differences through dialogue and good neighborliness principles, as he highlighted the significance of the holy month of Ramadan as a time for self-restraint and Islamic solidarity. He said that the Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to provide any assistance in facilitating dialogue and strengthening understanding and cooperation between the two countries.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Pakistan's Defence Minister Khawaja Asif stated early on Friday that the country is in an 'open war' with neighboring Afghanistan, following overnight strikes by both nations. Pakistan carried out strikes in the Afghan capital, Kabul, and two other Afghan provinces, as confirmed by the spokesperson of the Afghan caretaker government, Zabihullah Mujahid, just hours after Afghanistan launched a cross-border attack on Pakistan.
