Iran-Russia Energy Cooperation Achieves ‘Tangible Results’: Oil Minister

Tehran: Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad announced that joint cooperation between Iran and Russia in developing oil and gas fields has led to 'completely tangible achievements,' with several projects reaching the production stage. The announcement was made during the 19th Session of the Permanent Iranian-Russian Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation, which was attended by Russian Energy Minister Sergey Tsivilyov.According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Paknejad highlighted the significance of the gathering as 'an important opportunity to maximize the capacities of the two countries, especially under sensitive international conditions.' He emphasized that energy issues, particularly in the oil and gas sector, were at the forefront of the agenda. The collaboration involves four contracts focusing on the development of seven oil fields with Russian companies. Paknejad noted that the ongoing projects have already begun production, marking this as a valuable achievement.Tsivilyov, on his part, acknowledge d that strategic cooperation between Tehran and Moscow has reached a higher level of bilateral interactions. He mentioned the signing of laws related to the removal of preferential currency and a comprehensive strategic memorandum between Iran and Russia in October 2025. These developments indicate both countries' full preparedness to hold the 20th session of the commission in Russia at the highest level. 'The laws related to the removal of preferential currency have been signed, and also, on October 2, 2025, the comprehensive strategic memorandum between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Russian Federation was signed by the presidents of the two countries; a memorandum that has brought us into a higher level of bilateral interactions,' the Russian minister added.
