Vienna: Iran's Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the International Organizations Based in Vienna, Mohsen Naziri-Asl, has voiced strong criticism against what he perceives as the West's manipulation of the International Atomic Energy Agency's (IAEA) platform for political motives. He emphasized that the demand for a comprehensive report on Iran's peaceful nuclear program lacks any legal foundation and constitutes a perilous precedent. According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Naziri-Asl made these remarks during a meeting of the IAEA Board of Governors. He highlighted that, as per the latest safeguards implementation report (SIR 2023), Iran is unique among 46 countries with a safeguards agreement but without implementation of the additional protocol, as it accounts for 75% of all IAEA safeguards inspections. Naziri-Asl further noted that approximately 25% of the total IAEA inspections are focused on Iran's nuclear facilities, even though these facilities represent just 3% of the world's nuclear sit es. He asserted that such extensive access by the agency is a testament to Iran's ongoing cooperation with the IAEA.
