Tehran: Iranian Deputy Police Commander General Qassem Rezaei has commended the Kurdish population for their steadfast vigilance and resistance against attempts to incite unrest and insecurity in the Kurdish-populated regions of Iran. Speaking to IRNA, General Rezaei emphasized that the Kurdish community has consistently thwarted enemy efforts to disrupt the peace and stability in these areas since the onset of the Islamic Revolution.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, General Rezaei highlighted that the enemies have long sought to create divisions between the Iranian people and the government. However, these attempts have been effectively countered by the public's vigilance. He noted that the Kurdish people, under the leadership of Martyr Mohammad Boroujerdi, have distanced themselves from anti-revolutionary factions by aligning with the Muslim Peshmerga.
General Rezaei praised the courage and alertness of the Kurdish community, asserting that they will not permit adversaries to succeed in their attempts to destabilize the region. He further acknowledged the collective resolve of Iran's armed forces and the public in neutralizing similar threats in recent times, reinforcing the unity among various ethnic groups in Iran, including Kurds, Lurs, Persians, Turks, Baluch, and Arabs.
In his remarks, General Rezaei issued a warning to external powers, particularly the United States, against inciting insecurity through affiliated groups. He stressed that any such actions would be met with strong public vigilance and resistance.
Addressing border security, General Rezaei called for the enhancement of the infrastructure and police capabilities at the Mehran border crossing, a critical point for pilgrim traffic and commercial exchanges. Despite recent developments, he noted that the current infrastructure is inadequate to handle the increasing number of travelers, particularly during the annual Arbaeen pilgrimage.
During this year's pilgrimage, the Mehran crossing recorded over three million crossings, marking it as the busiest border point for pilgrims. General Rezaei urged for continued government investment to expand the crossing's capacity to accommodate future increases in pilgrim numbers.
General Rezaei was in Ilam for the ceremony marking the appointment of General Ruhollah Garavandi as the province's new police commander.
