Muscat: Iran's Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, has engaged in a series of diplomatic discussions with foreign officials in Muscat, the capital of Oman. The talks were held on the sidelines of the 8th Indian Ocean Conference (IOC), where Araghchi met with key figures from Nepal, Oman, and Yemen.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Araghchi met with Nepal's Foreign Minister, Arzu Deuba Rana, to discuss bilateral relations and potential areas of cooperation. During the meeting, Araghchi expressed Iran's readiness to enhance ties with Nepal, focusing on economic, trade, and energy collaboration. Nepal's foreign minister highlighted the sixtieth anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries as an opportunity to organize events that could strengthen their ties further. She also expressed gratitude for Iran's efforts to evacuate Nepali citizens from Gaza and requested continued support in this regard.
In another significant meeting, Araghchi held talks with his Omani counterpart, Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi. The discussions centered around the important roles of Iran and Oman in the Persian Gulf and Indian Ocean regions. Araghchi commended Muscat's effective organization of the summit and emphasized Iran's commitment to implementing joint agreements and exploring new cooperation opportunities, particularly in trade and energy. Al Busaidi reiterated the Sultan of Oman's commitment to maintaining strong relations with Iran, highlighting the potential for regional stability and development through collaboration.
Furthermore, Araghchi met with Mohammad Abdul-Salam, the spokesman and head of the negotiating team of Yemen's National Salvation Government. Araghchi praised Yemen's solidarity with the Palestinian people amid ongoing conflicts and reaffirmed Iran's support for Yemen's territorial integrity and sovereignty. Abdul-Salam emphasized Yemen's vigilance regarding regional developments and the execution of the Gaza ceasefire agreement, asserting Yemen's preparedness for any future actions in support of the Palestinian people, contingent on the ceasefire's implementation by other parties.
