Iraq called on the UN Security Council to exercise its role in maintaining international peace and security, while warning against dragging the region into an all-out war. The Iraqi representative to the United Nations Abbas Kazim Obaid, said in a speech at the emergency session of the Security Council: "The failure to deter the Zionist entity opens the door to more crimes and drags the region into broad conflicts."
