Tehran: Iraqi President Nizar Amidi has emphasized the importance of resolving regional disputes through diplomacy and dialogue during talks with Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in Baghdad, as the two sides discussed regional developments and efforts to preserve stability.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, a Sunday statement from the Iraqi presidency stated that Amidi and Araghchi reviewed regional and international developments, the need to prevent further escalation in the region, and the recent agreement between Iran and the United States to stop war.
The Iraqi president stressed the importance of dialogue in fostering a more stable environment, achieving lasting understandings on disputed issues, and safeguarding regional security.
Amidi expressed Iraq's support for initiatives aimed at strengthening regional peace, preserving the sovereignty of states, and settling disputes through diplomatic means, avoiding tension and the use of force.
Araghchi thanked Iraq for its role in containing regional crises and easing differences, reaffirming Tehran's commitment to continued coordination and consultations with Baghdad while expanding cooperation and mutual understanding on current regional developments.
