Tehran: Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has issued a stern warning regarding the potential implications of Israeli military actions in Lebanon. Araghchi stated that any Israeli attack or continued occupation in Lebanon would be deemed a violation of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) established between Iran and the United States to end the ongoing conflict.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Araghchi made these remarks during a meeting with ambassadors, charg©s-de-affaires, and heads of foreign and international missions in Tehran. He provided insights on the Iran-US negotiations aimed at concluding the war initiated by the United States and Israel against Iran earlier this year. The MoU, set to go into effect with its official signing on Friday, marks a significant step toward peace, with new negotiations scheduled to solidify a final agreement.
Araghchi highlighted the immediate outcome of these talks as the declaration of the war's end, which was announced on Monday morning, Tehran time. He elaborated that while the conflict's cessation has been declared, the formal enactment of the MoU will occur later in the week.
The minister elaborated on the interconnected nature of the conflicts in Lebanon and Iran, indicating that resolving the situation in Lebanon is essential for achieving peace in the broader region. He underscored that for the MoU's objectives to be met, Israeli forces must withdraw from the territories they occupy in Lebanon, with any further military aggression considered a breach of the agreement.
In his address, Araghchi also acknowledged the positive contributions of Pakistan and Qatar, praising their efforts to foster peace and stability in the region.
