Tehran: The Martyrs and Veterans Affairs Foundation has announced that the funeral procession for Martyr Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei will span several days across Iran, attracting millions of mourners in what is expected to be a significant national event.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Yaqoub Soleimani, the foundation's deputy for cultural and educational affairs, shared at a coordination meeting for the funeral arrangements that the ceremonies will be conducted with meticulous planning. He emphasized that the anticipated large turnout will ensure the event is marked as a historical occasion in the collective memory of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Soleimani highlighted the mobilization of all available resources and capacities to accommodate the mourners attending this national gathering. He added that hussainiyas, cultural complexes, and civic institutions across various provinces and cities have been prepared to serve the public during the event.

Farideh Olad Qobad, the foundation's deputy for cooperative and social affairs, stated at the same meeting that counselors and social workers will be present throughout the ceremonies to provide support. She also mentioned that a covenant document reflecting the ideals of Martyr Ayatollah Khamenei is being prepared in both English and Arabic to communicate the significance of the event to international audiences.

The farewell ceremony for Martyr Ayatollah Khamenei is set to occur on Saturday and Sunday, July 4 and 5, at the Imam Khomeini Musalla in Tehran. The funeral procession will be held in the capital on Monday, July 6, followed by a procession in the holy city of Qom on Tuesday, July 7, and a final procession in the holy city of Mashhad on Thursday, July 9. Martyr Ayatollah Khamenei will be laid to rest at the sacred shrine of Imam Reza (AS) in Mashhad.

Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei was martyred on Saturday, February 28, in a terrorist attack attributed to the US and Israeli regime enemies.
