Beirut: President Masoud Pezeshkian congratulated Iran's national Artificial Intelligence Olympiad team after it won four medals at the 3rd edition of the International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence (IOAI) in Astana, Kazakhstan, held on August 2-8. The Iranian team won one gold, two silver, and one bronze medal among competitors from countries around the world, highlighting the performance of young Iranian students in a growing field of science and technology.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Shayan Reza-Zadeh won the gold medal, while Mohammadreza Darvishi and Mohammadamin Nazmfar each won silver medals, and Mani Manji-Pour received the bronze. Pezeshkian said the result demonstrated the country's human-resource capacity and the standing of its young talents in an important field of future science and technology.
Pezeshkian stated, "This success ... shows the remarkable capacity of the human capital of this land and the worthy position of young talents in one of the most important fields of science and technology of the future." He also mentioned that attacks on scientific centers and technological infrastructure during recent imposed wars had sought to disrupt Iran's scientific progress, but the knowledge, creativity, and determination of young people had prevented such obstacles from stopping scientific development.
He emphasized the need for greater support for talented young people, expanded AI infrastructure, and stronger opportunities for Iranian participation in global science and technology competitions. The third edition of the International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence was hosted by Astana, Kazakhstan, with more than 500 talented students from different countries participating. Iran's results improved from the previous edition in Beijing, China, where its team won two silver and two bronze medals.
