TEHRAN: Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has commemorated the fifth anniversary of Iraqi martyr Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis by receiving his family. The meeting took place on Sunday, ahead of the official anniversary of Al-Muhandis' martyrdom, highlighting the significance of his sacrifice and the ongoing impact on regional relations.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the visit was marked by a poignant interaction between the Supreme Leader and the daughter of Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis, who inquired about the responsibilities of the youth amid the current regional conditions. Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis, the deputy of Iraq's Hashd al-Shaabi, was killed alongside Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani and their companions in a U.S. airstrike near Baghdad airport on January 3, 2020.
