Trump Must Drop ‘Zero-Enrichment’ Demand on Iran: US Analyst

Washington: US President Donald Trump's insistence on 'zero enrichment' in negotiations with Iran is preventing any possible agreement and pushing Washington toward conflict, according to an American analyst. Matt Duss, executive vice president at the Center for International Policy, wrote in a post on X on Monday that 'a deal with Iran became impossible once Trump adopted the 'zero enrichment' demand.'

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Duss said the demand was 'a poison pill' pushed on Trump by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and 'DC warmongers' because 'they didn't want a deal; they wanted a war.' He added, 'A deal will become possible when Trump reverses that mistake.' These comments come amid growing criticism in the US over Trump's Iran policy and fears of wider regional escalation in West Asia.

Earlier, Democratic Senator Chris Murphy expressed concerns that Trump was pursuing war policies against Iran that were driving up fuel prices across the United States. In a video message posted on X, Murphy noted that gasoline prices in Windsor, Connecticut, had reached five dollars per gallon, while prices elsewhere in the country were nearing six dollars. He further mentioned that diesel prices had also climbed to six dollars, stating that these increases were adversely affecting American farmers, small businesses, and the transportation industry.
