Trump’s Admission to Arming Rioters Sparks Outrage in Iran

Tehran: Iran's High Council for Human Rights (HCHR) has condemned US President Donald Trump's public admission regarding the shipment of weapons to rioters in Iran, labeling it as a clear violation of international law and the UN Charter.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the HCHR issued a statement on Monday asserting that Trump's acknowledgment reveals the falsity of US claims of supporting human rights and democracy. The statement suggests that the admission underscores the US's intent to commit acts of assassination, destruction, and violations against the sovereignty of independent nations.

'We sent guns to protesters. We sent them a lot of guns ...', Trump was quoted during an interview with Fox News. The HCHR highlighted that this statement exposes the interventionist policies of the US towards Iran, demonstrating the organized and armed nature of the January riots.

The HCHR expressed strong condemnation of the US actions, which they claim were aimed at overthrowing a government and causing unrest, thus breaching Article 2 of the UN Charter. This article prohibits the use of force against the sovereignty and territorial integrity of any nation.

The statement also referenced the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, which prohibit the delivery of weapons to separatist groups, as such actions could lead to national insecurity, chaos, destruction, and loss of life.

Labeling Trump's confession as another political and legal scandal for the US, the HCHR announced plans to file legal and criminal complaints against the US president and government. Iran insists on its right to pursue justice through international channels and warns the US and its allies of its commitment to combating state terrorism and illegal interventions.
