Tehran: Commander of the Iranian Army’s Naval Force, Rear Admiral Shahram Irani, has announced that the force will receive new vessels in the coming days as part of efforts to strengthen economic security and protect shipping routes in oceanic waters. The commander made the announcement on Tuesday during a press briefing held on the occasion of National Navy Day that will be marked on November 28.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the commander emphasized the necessity for Iran to possess suitable equipment capable of operating deep in oceanic waters to fulfill its mission of securing shipping lines. He stated, “New vessels will join the Navy’s fleet in the coming days, because our foremost priority is to ensure economic security and the safety of shipping routes in oceanic waters.”
The commander highlighted Iran’s commitment to continuing its active participation in “future international events,” building on its previous involvement in joint drills with countries both inside and outside the region. He underscored the importance of Iran’s presence on the international maritime stage, which requires “advanced knowledge, modern equipment, and awareness of conditions in oceanic environments.”
Furthermore, the commander noted that Iran’s active maritime role aligns with the nation’s firm belief that the country contributes to global security and supports states that treat the Iranian nation with respect.
