Iran Launches Missile and Drone Strikes on US Bases in Middle East

Manama: The Iranian armed forces announced early Tuesday that they launched missile and drone strikes on U.S. bases located in Bahrain, Jordan, and Kuwait. This military action was described as a response to recent U.S. attacks on southern Iran.

According to Nam News Network, the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) released a statement via its official outlet, Sepah News, claiming that the United States had conducted overnight airstrikes on coastal facilities and military sites in southern Iran. These developments followed what the IRGC referred to as Washington's "defeat" in the Strait of Hormuz on Monday night.

In a separate statement, the IRGC accused the U.S. military of attempting to escort numerous vessels through an "illegal" route in the Strait of Hormuz. The IRGC reported that two supertankers, which allegedly turned off their navigation systems and disregarded repeated Iranian warnings, entered a mined route and were subsequently struck.

The IRGC detailed that its naval and aerospace forces targeted key U.S. military facilities, including the Juffair base and the U.S. Fifth Fleet headquarters in Bahrain. The strikes reportedly focused on weapons depots, fuel storage facilities, communications and radar systems, troop accommodations, and a command center for unmanned surface vessels.

Additionally, ballistic missiles were launched at U.S. positions at an air base in Jordan, which is reportedly used to launch attacks against Iran. Despite these actions, Iran emphasized that it does not harbor any hostility toward Jordan or its people.

In another development, Iran's army announced it had targeted a "hostile" U.S. vessel with cruise missiles and vexecuted drone strikes on U.S. military facilities in Kuwait. These attacks were claimed to have impacted communications systems, fuel depots, Patriot air defense systems, air traffic control facilities, and an ammunition depot, serving as a response to U.S. aggression and attacks on Iranian military sites.

Meanwhile, the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) stated in a post on X that its forces completed a series of strikes against Iran at 10:15 p.m. ET on Monday (0215 GMT on Tuesday). The operation, which spanned five hours, targeted military facilities in Bushehr, Chabahar, Jask, Konarak, Abu Musa, and Bandar Abbas, using precision munitions to degrade Iran's capability to attack commercial shipping. This action came in the wake of Iran's tightened restrictions on shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, enacted on February 28, which barred vessels linked to Israel and the United States following their joint strikes on Iranian territory.

This escalation follows days of tensions between Iran and the United States, despite a peace memorandum signed on June 18, which stipulated that both sides were expected to commence negotiations within 60 days toward a final agreement. U.S. media reported on Monday that President Donald Trump had formally notified Congress regarding the resumption of U.S. military operations against Iran.
