Tehran: The Minister of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) has announced plans to launch several light satellites from the Shahid Soleimani satellite constellation into space this year.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Sattar Hashemi stated that the constellation will gradually mature through phased launches. In response to a question about the program’s development, he confirmed that a number of satellites from the Shahid Soleimani constellation are scheduled for deployment into orbit within the year.
The minister emphasized the Pezeshkian administration’s focus on purposeful launches and the delivery of effective public services. He explained that the development of the constellation’s components is led by the Iranian Space Agency and the Space Research Institute. Hashemi noted that the launches will utilize both domestic and international launchers.
Highlighting the dynamic nature of the communications sector, Hashemi stressed the importance of constant updates. He pointed out that as technology advances, the needs of connected areas must also evolve. He further added that satellite services are now expected to offer high-quality and ample bandwidth, surpassing the minimal connections of the past.
