Tehran: The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has launched a series of retaliatory strikes across West Asia, targeting a US special operations command center in Syria, as well as American weapons depots and radar sites in Kuwait and Oman.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the IRGC announced on Friday that the operations were part of the eleventh, twelfth, and thirteenth waves of 'Operation Nasr-2'. The eleventh wave was dedicated to martyred soldiers from Bampur in Iranshahr, and included a surprise strike on the enemy's command center in Syria's al-Tanf region.
In a further announcement, the IRGC's Public Relations Department outlined that the retaliatory operations targeted a missile defense surveillance radar, US weapons depots, two HIMARS launchers, and several missiles in Kuwait, causing a large fire at a base hosting US forces.
The IRGC later confirmed successful strikes on a naval surveillance radar at the Salmah Plateau and a US air surveillance radar in the Ghanam area of Oman. These actions are a response to what Iran sees as violations of a memorandum of understanding signed by Tehran and Washington on June 17, which was intended to permanently end hostilities.
The conflict traces back to February 28, when the US and Israeli regime initiated an aggressive campaign against Iran. However, Iran's resilient defense and strategic retaliatory strikes led to a ceasefire on April 8. Despite the agreement brokered by Pakistan, the US has allegedly breached several provisions, prompting Iran's recent military actions.
