Bushehr: The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has seized an Eswatini-flagged ship carrying smuggled fuel in the Persian Gulf. The vessel, which was transporting 350,000 liters of gasoline, was intercepted and brought to the coast of Bushehr Province following a judicial order.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Heidar Honarian-Mojjard, commander of IRGC Navy’s Second Naval Zone, announced the operation to reporters on Sunday. The commander stated that the ship was involved in smuggling fuel from Iran, and the confiscated cargo has been returned to the country. The gasoline was handed over to the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company’s department in Bushehr as per the judicial decree.
While the commander did not disclose the total number of people aboard the vessel, he confirmed that 13 of the detained sailors were Indian nationals, and one sailor was from a neighboring country of Iran. In total, 14 individuals have been detained in connection with the incident.
