Tehran: Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has emphasized that the difference between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran is fundamental, not tactical or circumstantial. Ayatollah Khamenei made the remarks during a meeting with thousands of students at Imam Khomeini Complex, downtown Tehran, on Monday morning, marking the anniversary of Aban 13 (November 4).
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Ayatollah Khamenei highlighted a fundamental clash of interests between Iran and the US, stating that any request for cooperation from the US will only be considered if the US ceases its support for Israel, withdraws its military presence from the region, and stops interfering in Iran’s internal affairs. He discussed the historical enmity between the two nations, particularly referencing the 1979 embassy seizure as a significant event, both historically and identity-related.
Ayatollah Khamenei characterized the day students seized the US embassy as a moment of pride and victory for Iran, while urging students to study both positive and negative historical events. He emphasized the importance of preserving national memory by acknowledging both victories and periods of weakness in Iran’s history.
The Leader pointed out that the seizure of the US embassy exposed the true identity of the US government and the genuine nature of the Islamic Revolution. He explained that the embassy’s role went beyond information gathering, alleging it aimed to organize remnants of the previous regime against the Revolution, which prompted students to take control.
Ayatollah Khamenei clarified that the issues between the US and Iran date back to the 1953 coup rather than the 1979 embassy seizure. He dismissed the notion that anti-US slogans were the root of American hostility, arguing it was a misinterpretation. He asserted that while Iran did not surrender to the US, the expectation of surrender from a capable nation like Iran was unrealistic.
The Leader stressed the importance of strength in management, science, military, and motivation to ensure the country’s immunity. He urged the government to fulfill its responsibilities with strength in these areas. He concluded by reiterating that cooperation with Iran is incompatible with the US’s support for the Zionist regime.
