Gaza: More than 70 Palestinians, including many women and children, were killed in predawn Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip. The Israeli army carried out massive airstrikes in the north and south of the besieged Palestinian territory before dawn on Thursday, resulting in at least 71 casualties.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Israel resumed its operations on Gaza early on Tuesday, when more than 400 Palestinians were killed in a series of attacks targeting residential buildings and makeshift shelters. This renewed wave of violence shattered a fragile ceasefire with Hamas that had been in place since January 19.
The Health Ministry in Gaza reported on Wednesday that at least 970 people had been killed in indiscriminate Israeli bombings over the span of just two days. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that the new wave of airstrikes was 'only the beginning,' asserting that Israeli forces would continue their operations in the Palestinian territory with 'full force.'
In addition to airstrikes, the Israeli army launched what it referred to as a 'limited ground operation' aiming to regain control of the Netzarim corridor, a strategic strip of land that divides Gaza. As part of the previous ceasefire agreement, Israel had withdrawn its forces from this area.
