New delhi: The BRICS countries have voiced serious concern over the rise of unilateral tariffs and non-tariff measures that distort trade and violate World Trade Organization rules, while condemning unilateral coercive measures that violate international law.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the New Delhi Declaration, adopted at the 18th BRICS Summit in India on Saturday, emphasized the need for stronger efforts in conflict prevention, particularly by addressing the root causes of conflict. The member nations reaffirmed their commitment to resolving international disputes peacefully through dialogue, consultation, and diplomacy.

Additionally, they advocated for a more representative, democratic, and multipolar international order grounded in the UN Charter and international law, calling for greater representation of emerging markets and developing countries. The BRICS countries condemned unilateral economic and secondary sanctions, describing them as contrary to international law and warning that they can harm development, food security, health, and human rights.

The declaration also expressed concern over the increasing use of unilateral tariffs, non-tariff barriers, and protectionist measures, which disrupt global trade and supply chains. Regarding global conflicts, the BRICS called for dialogue, diplomacy, preventive diplomacy, and mediation as effective means to resolve international disputes and conflicts.

Overall, the New Delhi Declaration emphasized the expanding role of the BRICS grouping in global governance, economic cooperation, and conflict resolution.
