Gaza city: Spokesperson for Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital, Khalil al-Daqran, has raised alarms about the deteriorating health conditions in the Gaza Strip due to Israeli ceasefire violations. According to al-Daqran, the ongoing breaches have significantly impacted the hospital’s ability to treat patients effectively.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, al-Daqran stressed that the lack of commitment from the Israeli occupiers to facilitate the entry of medical aid has led to the widespread outbreak of diseases. The situation has become dire, with over 70,000 cases of hepatitis reported in Gaza, many of whom require evacuation for continued treatment.
Al-Daqran urgently called for the immediate opening of border crossings to prevent further spread of infectious diseases. He highlighted the grim reality of over 10,000 victims still missing, with more than 68,000 identified casualties. Thousands remain trapped under rubble, and the lack of essential recovery equipment, exacerbated by the ongoing occupation, hinders efforts to retrieve bodies. He urged Arab nations to intervene promptly to address these challenges.
The spokesperson also revealed that Israeli military actions have resulted in the death of over 90 Palestinians due to ceasefire violations. Despite the critical need for aid, only nine trucks of medical supplies have been allowed into Gaza, which is grossly inadequate to meet the population’s needs. Al-Daqran emphasized the dire consequences of destroyed medical infrastructure, specifically dialysis units, which have led to an increase in mortality rates. He called on health and medical organizations to pressure Israeli authorities to permit the entry of more medical aid and personnel.
Earlier, the spokesperson for the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas, Hazem Qassem, condemned Israel for its ceasefire violations and obstruction of aid deliveries. He warned that the international community’s inaction could escalate tensions and demanded uninterrupted aid under international supervision, including agencies like the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).
Qassem criticized the re-emergence of the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, labeling it a fa§ade for crimes against Palestinians, and urged global institutions to take decisive action.
