Home of ‘Iran’s Father of Children’s Literature’ Turns Into Museum

Yazd: Iran's Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts has approved the transformation of Mehdi Azar-Yazdi's home, located in the central city of Yazd, into a museum honoring the 'Father of Iranian Children's Literature.' According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the head of the museums of Yazd, Elaheh Khakbaz Alvandian, announced that the Azar-Yazdi House, known as the home of 'Good Stories for Good Children,' has recently obtained a museum activity permit. This permit confirms its status as an official cultural and museum center. She explained that the late writer's house, which was opened to the public in December 2022, introduces visitors to his life, works, and literary activities. It also presents his simple and modest lifestyle. Born on March 18, 1922, in Yazd, Mehdi Azar-Yazdi passed away on July 9, 2010, after decades of contributing to children's literature. His celebrated series, Good Stories for Good Children, adapted classical Persian texts into simple language for young readers a nd played a significant role in shaping modern children's literature in Iran.
