Tehran: Iran's Air Force commander, Brigadier General Bahman Behmard, has praised Air Force veterans held as prisoners of war during the Iran-Iraq War, stating that young personnel have continued their legacy of sacrifice and resistance during the recent war. Speaking at a meeting with Air Force POW veterans, Behmard highlighted the veterans' resilience and experience, which have been instrumental in shaping a new generation of personnel.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Behmard expressed his admiration for the veterans, stating, "We are students of your students, and we always bow before the greatness and steadfastness you demonstrated." He emphasized that young Air Force personnel have drawn on the veterans' guidance and experience during the recent conflict, successfully attacking and destroying enemy targets and bases.
Behmard noted that the young members of the force created scenes reminiscent of Ashura and Karbala, demonstrating their determination to prevent the enemy from achieving its objectives. He added that the young personnel fought with the same courage, equipment, and aircraft used by the veterans during the Iran-Iraq war, considering their defense of the country "extremely valuable and a source of pride for us."
Furthermore, Behmard stressed the importance of documenting the sacrifices made by the veterans and highlighted the need for the Air Force to continue benefiting from their knowledge and experience.
