Tehran: The CEO of Royan Stem Cells Company has highlighted Iran’s significant achievement in ranking second globally in the storage of umbilical cord blood stem cells, despite facing extensive sanctions and infrastructural challenges. Morteza Zarabi emphasized that the Royan Cord Blood Stem Cell Storage Center has elevated its global standing through the volume of stored samples and the breadth of its international commercial activities. This accomplishment comes in the face of severe sanctions imposed on the Islamic Republic of Iran.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Zarabi noted that Iran is now positioned among the top three countries in the Middle East in the field of stem cells. He acknowledged the contributions of other active and reputable centers in the region, including those in the UAE and Saudi Arabia. However, he pointed out that Iran maintains a leading position across various key indicators in this domain.
