Tehran:Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has issued a warning to the United States, suggesting it could face a similar downfall to that of past empires if it continues its current approach.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Ghalibaf's remarks came in response to US Secretary of State Marco Rubio's speech in Athens, where Rubio referenced Western civilization and made disparaging remarks about Iran and its history. Ghalibaf, in a post on his X account late Friday, emphasized that Iranians have historically confronted those who claimed superiority and attempted to erase ancient civilizations.

He remarked that previous would-be conquerors "came in fire and flame, only to depart in dust and shame." Ghalibaf further warned that those pursuing the legacy of figures like Alexander the Great would ultimately meet the same fate as Roman Emperor Valerian, suggesting, "you will kneel."
