Tehran: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and his Saudi counterpart, Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, recently engaged in discussions regarding the latest developments in the memorandum of understanding (MoU) reached between Tehran and Washington on ending the ongoing conflict.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, during a phone conversation on Monday, Araghchi acknowledged Saudi Arabia's significant role in the diplomatic efforts aimed at concluding the US-Israeli imposed conflict on Iran and enhancing regional stability and security. He informed Faisal bin Farhan about the specifics of the agreement and highlighted the United States' responsibility in ensuring the proper execution of the MoU clauses, which include ceasing Israeli aggression against Lebanon.
Both ministers underscored the importance of maintaining close consultations and diplomatic cooperation between Tehran and Riyadh concerning regional developments. They stressed ongoing efforts to establish sustained peace in the region.
The announcement of the finalized MoU text by Tehran and Washington took place on Sunday night, marking a milestone in the peace process initiated after a Pakistan-mediated ceasefire in April. The MoU, scheduled for official signing on Friday in Switzerland, seeks to immediately and permanently halt military aggression on all fronts, including in Lebanon, and to end the US naval blockade.
