World Leaders Applaud Iran-US Agreement, Anticipate Lasting Peace in West Asia

Tehran: World leaders have lauded the memorandum of understanding (MoU) reached between Iran and the United States on a permanent end to the US-Israeli war of aggression against Iran.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Tehran and Washington announced on Sunday night that they have finalized the text of an MoU on ending the war, bringing an immediate and permanent halt to military operations on all fronts, including Lebanon, and terminating the US naval blockade against Iran. The MoU will be signed on Friday in Switzerland.

The United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres termed the agreement a 'critical step' towards resolving the conflict, while Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan called it an 'important development' in establishing peace in the region. Both leaders emphasized the importance of avoiding provocations that could escalate tensions prior to the MoU signing.

Qatar's Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani expressed hope for constructive future negotiations, appreciating the United States and Iran for resolving their differences through dialogue. Japan's Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi also welcomed the deal, expressing hope for a final agreement on Iran's nuclear issue.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer described the agreement as a 'hugely important step forward' in ending the war and ensuring regional stability, while France's President Emanuel Macron emphasized the need for the swift implementation and reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.

Germany's Chancellor Friedrich Merz and Italy's Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni also praised the deal, highlighting its potential to revive the global economy and contribute to regional stability. Australia, the European Union, and a host of other nations, including Spain, Norway, New Zealand, and Bangladesh, echoed these sentiments, underscoring the agreement's significance for global peace.

Colombia's President Gustavo Petro, holding the rotating presidency of the United Nations Security Council, pledged support for peace efforts between Tehran and Washington, while the International Maritime Organization (IMO) highlighted the agreement's role in restoring safe maritime activities.

Denmark, Belgium, Sweden, the Netherlands, Portugal, Greece, and numerous other countries expressed their readiness to support the implementation of the agreement, stressing the importance of reopening the Strait of Hormuz and ensuring freedom of navigation.

The agreement was also welcomed by leaders in India, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Finland, Slovakia, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, and Egypt, with many emphasizing the need for peaceful solutions and the settlement of disputes through diplomacy.

Regional bodies such as the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council and countries including Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Lebanon, Iraq, Jordan, and the United Arab Emirates also expressed support, hoping for a lasting peace that respects regional security interests and sovereignty.

The global response underscores a collective hope that the Iran-US agreement will pave the way for enduring peace and stability in West Asia, benefiting not only regional but also global security and economic interests.
