Tehran: The operation to return the Iranian Hajj pilgrims was successfully completed with Iran Air (Homa) flight from Jeddah Airport to Imam Khomeini International Airport, which landed early on Monday.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the pilgrims' return operation began on June 1. During this period, 264 sorties were conducted from Jeddah Airport to six domestic flight hubs: Tehran, Mashhad, Shiraz, Gorgan, Zahedan, and Isfahan. This extensive operation ensured the safe return of pilgrims to their respective destinations.
The operation experienced a brief extension by one day after Iranian airspace was temporarily closed on June 8, bringing the total duration of the mission to 13 days. Despite this delay, the operation was completed without significant disruptions.
CEO of Iran's national carrier Homa, Captain Taher Abdollahi, noted that the busiest day of the operation was June 11, when the airline operated 26 flights and transferred 3,115 pilgrims to Iran. The successful completion of this operation marks an important logistical achievement for Iran Air.
