Moscow: First Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref has emphasized the significance of bolstering relations between Iran and Belarus. The economies of the two nations have the potential to complement each other and fulfill mutual needs, Aref stated during a meeting with Belarusian Prime Minister Alexander Genrikhovich Turchin. This meeting took place on the sidelines of the 24th Meeting of the Council of Heads of Government (Prime Ministers) of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Aref described President Masoud Pezeshkian’s recent visit to Minsk as a pivotal moment in enhancing comprehensive ties between Iran and Belarus. He pointed out that the active involvement of both countries in regional organizations like the Eurasian Economic Union and the SCO could lead to increased cooperation, benefiting the wider region.
Aref further noted that strengthening cultural and scientific relations could pave the way for enhanced collaboration in other sectors, including the economy. He suggested that hosting a Cultural Day of Belarus in Iran could serve as an opportunity to introduce Belarus to the Iranian populace.
In his remarks, Aref also underscored the importance of the Iranian and Belarusian private sectors in fields such as culture, tourism, economy, and science and technology. Meanwhile, Turchin assured that the agreements made during President Pezeshkian’s visit would foster development in bilateral relations.
Turchin also highlighted the implementation of the Iran-Eurasia free trade agreement as beneficial for both nations. He expressed Belarus’s interest in developing bilateral relations, executing joint projects, investments, and production, as well as enhancing cultural and educational cooperation.
