New york: Iran's Permanent Mission to the United Nations has affirmed that the country's entire stockpile of enriched uranium remains under the full supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). The mission emphasized that there has been no report of any diversion of the nuclear material.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the mission criticized the United States for exploiting the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) Review Conference by portraying Iran's enriched uranium as a threat. This portrayal, the mission claims, is an attempt by the U.S. to divert attention from its own violations and those of its allies in the realm of nuclear disarmament.
Iranian nuclear facilities have suffered damage during recent military actions by the U.S. and Israel against the Islamic Republic. These acts occurred during the 12-day conflict last June and amid ongoing negotiations between Iran and the U.S. concerning Iran's peaceful nuclear program.
The mission also expressed disappointment with the response from international bodies. It noted that the UN Security Council, the IAEA Director-General, and the Board of Governors failed to condemn these attacks and, regrettably, took actions that reversed the roles of the victim and the aggressor.
