Araghchi Attributes Persian Gulf Insecurity to US-Israeli Actions

Tehran: Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has asserted that the insecurity in the Persian Gulf region and the Strait of Hormuz is a direct consequence of aggressive actions by the United States and Israel against the Islamic Republic. In a recent phone call with his Indian counterpart, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Araghchi highlighted the need to hold these nations accountable for the security and economic ramifications impacting the global community.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, during the conversation, Araghchi updated Jaishankar on the current situation in the region and the ongoing repercussions of US actions that threaten international navigation freedom. He also discussed the latest developments in negotiations aimed at ending the conflict imposed on Iran. Araghchi emphasized that the insecurity affecting the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz stems from the aggressive strategies of the US and the Zionist regime, stressing the importance of accountability for the global impact of their actions.

The Indian Foreign Minister reiterated India's commitment to diplomacy as a means to resolve conflicts and disputes. Both ministers exchanged views on recent developments regarding the ceasefire, bilateral relations, and broader regional and international issues.

The hostilities commenced on February 28, when the United States and Israel imposed a war against Iran, resulting in the assassination of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, and several top military commanders on the initial day of aggression.
