Iran and Pakistan Review Regional Developments at Moscow Format

Moscow:The Special Representative of Pakistan for Afghanistan Affairs and the Assistant to the Minister and Director-General for South Asia of Iran's Foreign Ministry have engaged in discussions regarding ongoing regional developments.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Sadiq Khan, leading the Pakistani delegation, and Mohammad Reza Bahrami met on Sunday during the Moscow Format on Afghanistan. This meeting served as a platform for both officials to exchange views on the current situation in the region.

Pakistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the fifth Moscow Format meeting on Afghanistan is set for Monday, hosted by the Russian Federation. Pakistan's Special Representative for Afghanistan Affairs and its Ambassador to Kabul are scheduled to attend.

Bahrami provided insights into the Moscow meeting, noting that before the official session, he had a productive dialogue with Sadiq Khan and his delegation about regional developments.

The Moscow Format, initiated by Russia in 2017, is a regional framework aimed at facilitating discussions on Afghanistan's peace process and developments. Its meetings focus on enhancing coordination among regional states and exploring ways to achieve stability and peace in Afghanistan. Key participants in this initiative include Iran, Russia, China, India, several Central Asian nations, and Afghanistan's neighbors.
