Iran Enhances Ties with UN for Improved Crisis Management Cooperation.


Tehran: The Iranian and United Nations officials have held talks on fostering cooperation on coping with crisis management challenges through the formation of a joint committee. The talks were held in Tehran on Wednesday with the participation of the Secretary-General of Iran’s High Council of Crisis Management, Hossein Sajedinia, and the UN Resident Coordinator for the Islamic Republic of Iran, Stefan Priesner.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, after the talks, Sajedinia stated that the meeting was the beginning of a process to promote international cooperation in crisis management. He highlighted that collaboration with the UN could assist Iran, which has a commendable record in providing humanitarian aid during natural disasters, in fulfilling its mission to support human welfare in regional states and globally.

Sajedinia reiterated that building resilience against natural disasters and other incidents remains a crucial agenda for Iran. He emphasized the country’s commitment to enhancing its cap
abilities and cooperation in crisis management efforts.

In his remarks, Priesner acknowledged the talks as an endorsement of Iran’s capabilities in crisis management. He underlined the aim of the discussions was to develop cooperation between Iran’s Crisis Management Organization and the UN, along with its specialized agencies. Priesner suggested forming a committee to facilitate further interactions, expressing the readiness of UN specialized agencies to engage in comprehensive cooperation with Iran.
