Iran Reserves Right to Respond to Israel, Considers Regional Developments: Araghchi.

Tehran: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has declared that Iran reserves the right to respond to recent Israeli airstrikes, while it is attentively considering regional developments, including the newly brokered ceasefire in Lebanon. Speaking on Wednesday, Araghchi expressed support for the Tuesday agreement to halt hostilities in Lebanon, stating, “Iran supports Tuesday’s agreement and hopes it will lead to a permanent ceasefire.”

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the Iranian foreign minister emphasized Iran’s right to retaliate against a last month’s Israeli attack on the country, while also noting that Tehran is considering other developments across the region. Araghchi’s comments come amid heightened tensions and shifting dynamics in the Middle East.

During a press conference earlier in the day, Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf also expressed approval of the recent ceasefire in Lebanon. When asked by a journalist about Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s remarks on shi
fting focus to Iran and its nuclear program post-ceasefire, Ghalibaf dismissed the claims as empty threats. He criticized Netanyahu, stating that despite mobilizing seven divisions to invade the south, the Israeli Prime Minister failed to achieve his goals in Lebanon, adding, “It’s better for him to stop boasting. He has already been defeated.”
