Tehran: Head of the Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS), in a meeting with the President of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), urged the international body to support the Red Crescent Society and the people of Iran in legally pursuing violations of humanitarian rights in the 40-day war.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, ICRC President Mirjana Spoljaric Egger, who is visiting Iran to follow up the consequences of the US-Israeli strikes on the country, held talks with the president of the IRCS, Pir-Hossein Kolivand, on Wednesday. Kolivand highlighted the impact of the attacks, particularly mentioning the tragic incident at Minab school. He explained that during the 40-day conflict, homes, children, the elderly, and other civilians were targeted, resulting in numerous civilian casualties due to missile strikes and bombings.
Kolivand presented a report on the operations carried out by the IRCS during the war, emphasizing their continuous efforts to record and document cases of humanitarian rights violations. He mentioned that the organization has already submitted relevant documents to international humanitarian organizations to address these issues.
Kolivand further detailed that 56 Red Crescent centers were directly targeted by enemy attacks. Additionally, three relief helicopters were destroyed, and 43 ambulances along with 49 other rescue vehicles were also directly impacted, severely affecting the IRCS's ability to provide aid during the conflict.
